A Cleveland Clinic research team has been awarded a $2.5 M grant from the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NIH) to further advance their pioneering work using deep brain stimulation (DBS) to enhance post-stroke motor rehabilitation.
Andre Machado, MD, PhD, and Ken Baker, PhD, are co-primary investigators on the grant, which will operate in parallel with their on-going, first-of-its-kind clinical trial exploring the use of DBS to restore motor function in patients who have suffered a stroke.
