Advancing neurosurgical recovery through motor neuron transplantation and functional electrical stimulation (FES).
Dr. Bazarek’s work integrates cutting-edge neurosurgical techniques with biomedical engineering to restore independence for individuals with severe neurological impairments. His clinical and research expertise focuses on bridging the gap between spinal cord injury and functional mobility.
Research Programs
- Restoring Reaching and Grasping: Utilizing Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES) to enable multidimensional coordinated movement and dexterous grasping for individuals with chronic tetraplegia.
- Peripheral Motor Neuron Transplantation: Investigating the use of nerve transplantation to enhance functional recovery and muscle reinnervation following neurological injury.
