The Cleveland FES Center offers its members a comprehensive, multidisciplinary team or core to help with the developing and designing ethical research processes, taking into account major implications to consider before, during and after research studies.

This research core comprises a team of experienced ethics professionals who focus on the clinical, research, and practical interests of the work. The goal of this core is to assist researchers in thoroughly investigating the ethical questions that can and do arise and helping them prepare for or answer these questions while minimizing health risks. Our ethics experts help investigators balance achieving research goals, creating a beneficial experience for participants, and gauging the risks inherent in the research.

Researchers can work with the ethics core to receive:

  • Consultative case-by-case ethics support to enrich study planning, design, and proposal writing.
  • Lifecycle planning and assistance for research projects.
  • Comprehensive reviews of study design and development.
  • Scientific support for research protocols and processes.
  • Support to assist with Data and Safety Monitoring Board guidelines.
  • Consent instruction and support relative to participants and team members.
  • Educational opportunities for investigators, team members, and trainees.
  • Collaborative assistance for individual studies and multi-site projects.
  • Translational science proposal development.
