RESEARCH PROGRAMS
- Peripheral Neuropathy and Neuromuscular Disease – Focused on sensory integration deficits in diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN) and rare neuromuscular phenotypes, including stiff-person syndrome.
- Neurodiagnostic and Neuromodulatory Tools – Clinical expertise in nerve conduction studies, EMG, and innovative paradigms for nerve stimulation and neuromodulation.
- Headache Medicine – Research on migraine pathophysiology, clinical phenotyping, and novel sensory mapping techniques.
- Mentorship and Education – Long-standing interest in training neurology residents, physician assistant students, and foreign medical graduates in neurodiagnostic skills and patient care.
MAJOR PROJECTS & FUNDING
- Paired Afferent–Spinal Stimulation (PASS) Paradigm, Ongoing collaborative research with Dr. Ahlam Salameh, targeting sensorimotor integration in aging and diabetic peripheral neuropathy (2026–present).
- Transcutaneous Spinal Cord Stimulation, Research proposals exploring its use paired with peripheral nerve stimulation for polyneuropathy patients.
- VA Headache Center of Excellence, Clinical work encompassing advanced treatments for refractory headache, including botulinum toxin, CGRP-targeted therapies, and injection-based procedures.
- Patient Safety and Migraine Research, Contributions to safety data for commonly used acute migraine treatments and sensory mapping research.
HONORS & RECOGNITION
- Preceptor of the Year Award, Lake Erie College of Physician Assistance Program, 2023
