\nLab: Cunningham Lab – The Cunningham Lab focuses on improving rehabilitative outcomes for patients with neurological deficits by employing methods of non-invasive brain stimulation (repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation and transcranial direct current stimulation).<\/p>\n

RESEARCH<\/h3>\n

Jisung Yuk, Ph.D. is a postdoctoral fellow who joined the FES Center in 2024. Born and raised in South Korea, Jisung received his B.S. in Human Physiology at the University of Iowa. He then continued his academic training at The Pennsylvania State University, where he completed his M.S. and Ph.D. in Kinesiology. His doctoral dissertation, \u201cBimanual coordination and Hemispheric lateralization of motor skill learning,\u201d examined how the brain supports bimanual coordination and the acquisition and consolidation of motor skills.<\/p>\n

Jisung\u2019s research centers on understanding the neurophysiological mechanisms underlying motor learning, adaptation, and bimanual control. He combines quantitative motion analysis with non-invasive brain stimulation techniques to investigate how the brain and behavior interact. Ultimately, his goal is to apply these mechanistic insights to improve stroke rehabilitation.<\/p>\n

In his current fellowship, Jisung is expanding his expertise in non-invasive brain stimulation and neurorehabilitation. His work focuses on identifying neurophysiological changes associated with stroke and recovery, with the long-term aim of developing more precise and effective rehabilitation strategies<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
