Dr. Aulisio is the Chair of Case Western Reserve University\u2019s Department of Bioethics and Co-Director, Center for Biomedical Ethics, MetroHealth, and Co-Director, Center for Clinical Ethics, University Hospitals. He works on issues at the intersection of technology, bioethics, and healthcare and is a member of the FES Center\u2019s Bioethics Core.<\/p>\n

He has authored numerous articles and book chapters on clinical bioethics, ethics consultation, organ donation and transplant, double effect and related areas and is a sought-after speaker nationally and internationally.<\/p>\n

In 2009, Dr. Aulisio was honored with the American Society for Bioethics and Humanities\u2019 (ASBH) Distinguished Service Award for having helped to lead three national projects that resulted in
\nCore Competencies for Health Care Ethics Consultation<\/em> (1998),
\nStatus of Bioethics and Medical Humanities Graduate Training Programs in the North America Report<\/em> (2002) and
\nImproving Competencies in Ethics Consultation: An Education Guide<\/em> (2009) respectively.<\/p>\n

Dr. Aulisio also has extensive international bioethics experience which includes serving: as PI on clinical bioethics projects with colleagues at Kyoto University (2003\u20132004) and the University of Tokyo (2004\u20132006); as a co-investigator in University of Paris led 11 nation project on bioethics education (2006\u20132008); as co-investigator on a bioethics and citizenship project with Spanish colleagues at the University of Salamanca (2010\u20132021); and as a contributor to the Canadian Blood Services sponsored forum on the possibility of developing a National Organ and Tissue Donation and Transplant Program (2011).<\/p>\n

Dr. Aulisio\u2019s most recent international collaboration was as one of two CWRU faculty participants in the 11-university multinational effort of The Darwin Centre Trust\u2019s Darwin International Institute for the Study of Compassion (2016\u20132019).<\/p>\n
