Robert D. Adams, MD is an Assistant Professor of Neurology and a combined MD-PhD specialist focusing on neuromuscular neurology and electrical field neurotrophy.
Dr. Adams received his BS in Mechanical Engineering and Biological Sciences at Missouri University of Science and Technology, followed by a combined MD-PhD at Saint Louis University School of Medicine. His early research, funded by an NIH T32 training grant, focused on the neurotrophic effects of low-voltage and high-voltage electrical fields on peripheral neurons. He completed his neurology residency and fellowship in neuromuscular neurology at Case Western Reserve University / University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center.
CLINICAL & RESEARCH INTERESTS
Dr. Adams has special interests in the application of neuromuscular ultrasound for clinical diagnosis and experimental measurement:
- Diagnostic Ultrasound: Routine use for common neuromuscular conditions and research into diagnosing rare pathologies.
- Experimental Ultrasound: Exploring techniques for non-invasive measurement of muscle activation.
- Neurology Education: Dedicated to medical student teaching and residency program mentorship.
Dr. Adams was honored with the excellence award for his dedication to teaching medical students. Outside of the clinic, he enjoys trail-running, biking, and spending time in nature with his wife.
