Aiga Rakhesh, MD is a neurologist at the Syracuse VA Medical Center SCI/D Department and is an assistant professor of Neurology at SUNY Upstate Medical University.
Dr. Rakhesh completed her neurology residency at SUNY Upstate Medical University. She has special interests in the field of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), Multiple Sclerosis (MS), and Spinal Cord medicine.
RESEARCH FOCUS
Her special interest in research is in the field of ALS and she is a member of NEALS (Northeast ALS Consortium). Current projects include:
- ALS and Cerebellum: Study of Eyeblink conditioning in subjects with ALS
- ALS Data Repository: Building comprehensive datasets for longitudinal study
Dr. Rakhesh is passionate about teaching and is a part of the neurology residency program at SUNY Upstate Medical University and the SCI fellowship program at Syracuse VA Medical Center. She also serves as the Director of the ALS Center of Excellence at the Syracuse VA SCI/D Center. Outside of her clinical and research work, she enjoys gardening, spending time in nature, and traveling with her family.
